The scoundrel App Overview and Details
You quietly sip your daily Kir in your old office when the phone starts ringing. Your reputation as a detective has already exceeded the limits of the district Republic… and a little work would not hurt your bank account.
The worried voice of an elderly woman resonates in the handset: it is the Countess of La Fêlure who uses your detective services.
Her husband is gone. Quickly, you will understand that this case is rogue. Yes, but who is the scoundrel ?
It’s up to you to discover it during your investigation … which is not without risks.
This game is the faithful replica of one of the first adventure games released on the Macintosh in 1987.
This is what the author says, Jean-Louis Le Breton:
“The arrival of the Macintosh in 1984 marked the beginning of the decline of the Apple II. The last model in this series, the Apple IIc, was released in 1988. For Froggy Software, a game publishing company I created with my friend Fabrice Gille, it was a dilemma. We had everything bet on the Apple II, quite expensive computer, certainly, but had a very popular success. The Macintosh, a more complex machine, came on the market at a prohibitive price to make it a gaming machine. Apple was targeting the office and prepress market. It was the end for the troublemakers of the Apple II, we returned to the field of seriousness. Despite this situation, we published two games on the Macintosh: “Murder Channel” (by Frédéric Copet and Jean Solé) and “The Villain”. I programmed myself this last game in turbo-pascal, using again the principles which made the success of our adventure games on Apple II: simple graphics, humor and a syntax analysis allowing a rich dialogue between the player and the computer. The game “The Villain” was released in 1987. Then we didn’t continue: the first Mac were definitely not machines to play.
Thirty years later, some enthusiasts (Antoine Vignau, Olivier Zardini and Pierre Durant: thanks to them!) contacted me to revive the games of Froggy Software. And they did it. This revived version is the result of their hard work. It is the almost complete replica of the original. Do not expect to find animated 3D graphics in color here: the screen resolution of the 1987 Mac has been respected. We must take this game for what it is: a faithful reproduction in its own juice of the time. That said, we had fun with adventures games or “shoot them up” of 1986, which required little means and imagination, exactly like with today’s blockbusters, no doubt excellent, but that require millions of investment. The electronic game has become an industry. This reissue of “The Villain” (now “The scoundrel”) shows that it was a moment in the hands of free and independent creators. Those who had kept the spirit of the garage in which Jobs and Wozniak made the first Apple with their hands.
Jean-Louis Le Breton”

Conclusion
I can’t believe I actually got the job. I’m a scoundrel, a thief, and a liar. But I guess they needed someone to do the dirty work and I was the best they could find. I’m going to have to be careful not to get caught. But I can do this. I’m a scoundrel and I’m the best there is.
